We are seeking the Junior Research Chemist to join our Fuels Specialties team, based at our Ellesmere Port laboratory facility. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of new fuel technologies through hands-on laboratory work and collaborative research programmes. Working alongside experienced chemists, you will support the delivery of technical projects, gain exposure to product innovation, and develop your skills in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Role Responsibilities
- Support the development of project plans and contribute to the successful completion of research initiatives under supervision
- Conduct scientific experiments to support the development of new products and innovative solutions in alignment with project goals
- Review scientific literature and patent information to inform research directions and methodologies with guidance from senior team members
- Carry out laboratory experimental work including synthesis, analysis and testing in accordance with in-house and Industry standard methods
- Collate, analyse, and interpret results generated through research programmes
- Communicate project plans and progress effectively to team members and relevant stakeholders
- Maintain an awareness of product developments in the specific project areas as directed by Research Manager and FSGBT
- Assess and utilise appropriate research tools and technologies to support programme success
Requirements
- Qualified to Degree level, ideally with industrial experience, in Chemistry or relevant scientific discipline
- Hands-on experience in a research environment, including laboratory testing and data interpretation
- Strong communication skills, including oral, written, and presentational abilities
- Demonstrated interest in research project management and continuous improvement of research methodologies
- Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
