An opportunity has arisen for a 12-month undergraduate student placement within the Project Department of our major chemicals manufacturing site at Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, commencing in Summer 2026. The successful candidate will be asked to support instrumentation and control activities working alongside operations and project personnel. The work will be an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to experience a variety of projects across the site within an experienced and innovative environment.
The work will utilise and develop your practical skills and ability together with the knowledge you have gained from your university course studies. The engineering work will be varied and involve technical troubleshooting of plant issues, development of work packages for installation and optimisation of plant control systems.
Applicants are required to be studying for an Engineering Degree in Instrumentation and Control (or similar) and will be expected to be on course for either a 1st class or upper second-class honours. Good communication skills along with the ability to work independently or as part of a team are essential, as are strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Candidates must be proactive, self-motivated and have the ability to use their own initiative to achieve results. The ability to use standard Microsoft office packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint will be required for report writing and producing presentations.
