We're looking for an Analytical Chemist to join our Research & Development team at our Ellesmere Port site on a 12-month fixed-term contract. You'll play a key role in supporting innovative R&D projects, using advanced analytical techniques to solve complex technical challenges and support product development.
What you'll be doing
- Developing analytical solutions to support research and development projects
- Using a range of analytical techniques, including GC-MS, LC-MS, GPC, NMR, ICP-MS, thermal analysis and microscopy
- Developing and validating analytical methods for new applications and products
- Interpreting, analysing and presenting results to technical and non-technical audiences
- Maintaining, troubleshooting and optimising analytical instrumentation
- Supporting investigations involving complex chemical mixtures and unknown materials
- Providing technical support to colleagues, including apprentice laboratory technicians and global laboratory teams
- Working collaboratively with teams across R&D, Product Management, Technical Services and Process Development
What we're looking for
- Degree qualified in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or a related discipline
- Experience in a developmental analytical role with investigatory responsibilities
- Practical experience of analytical techniques such as GC-MS, LC-MS, GPC, NMR and related instrumentation
- Experience of analytical method development and validation
- Ability to work with complex chemical mixtures and solve challenging analytical problems
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- A proactive, collaborative approach with strong attention to detail
- An ethical and committed approach to delivering accurate analytical results
