Working as a core member of our Energy Storage team, the Senior Consultant will undertake data modelling tasks such as sizing and feasibility studies for energy storage projects .This job holder will also work on owner engineering activities and undertake technical due diligence studies.

What will you be doing?

  • Provide insight into the energy storage market mechanisms and revenue streams for specific markets.
  • Conduct co-location feasibility studies and sizing reviews.
  • Review operational data to opine on performance as well as testing and commissioning data to confirm performance.
  • Project manage energy storage construction projects from notice to proceed through construction and commissioning to take over.
  • Manage and contribute to comprehensive technical reviews of projects and portfolios at all stages of development and operation.
  • Conduct design reviews of documentation produced by EPC contractors, suppliers and contractors to confirm that the design is aligned to the concept and that the design interfaces have been addressed.
  • Provide onsite witnessing and support to developers through the commissioning of their projects.
  • Undertake early development Owners Engineering tasks such as tendering and procurement support, contract negotiation and development of employer’s requirements.
  • Lead on proposal writing, supporting business development and representing OWC.
  • Manage project key performance indicators including budgets and project teams to ensure optimal delivery of projects.
  • Develop OWC’s suite of energy storage products to lead in new markets and new (associated) technologies, using R&D to give OWC a competitive advantage
  • Collaborate with other teams within ABL Group, networking at all levels within the company, as well as with external bodies and acting as a representative of OWC and the ABL Group at industry conferences, seminars, events, etc.
  • Ensure that projects operate in accordance with ABL’s high health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to guarantee the safety and wellbeing of staff, sub-contractors and any other third parties who may be impacted by our work.
  • Ensure project work and technical quality standards are maintained through QA/QC processes, and with a commitment to driving continuous improvement internally
  • Always comply with the company QHSE policies, manuals, procedures, work systems and regulations at ABL premises, projects and client sites.

What are we looking for?

Working within a consultancy environment, within R&D analysing storage data, or working for an OEM analysing performance and facility commissioning data would provide an ideal foundation for this position.This position would offer the opportunity to develop skills in areas such as Owner Engineering and Technical Due Dilligence. More specifically, we are looking for the following:

  • Qualified to at least bachelor’s or master’s degree level in Engineering or a relevant discipline with 5 years’ worth of relevant industry experience.
  • A successful track record of project managing multi-disciplinary teams and experience with relevant software (Homer, Python, etc.).
  • A functional knowledge of how renewables projects are developed, constructed, operated, with specific experience in energy storage projects.
  • A practical understanding for the economics of energy storage projects, and the mechanisms by which they are financed.
  • Strong technology knowledge of areas including industry players, markets, technology, warranties, etc.
  • Experience of reviewing the electrical design of energy storage systems and associated plant, including the review of site acceptance tests and commissioning reports is desirable.
  • Knowledge of the grid connection process of renewable energy projects and experience in degradation, energy modelling or BESS feasibility studies is desirable.
