Lead the Evolution of Our Global People Strategy
ABL Group is a leading global consultancy delivering technical solutions to drive safety and sustainability in the renewables, maritime, and oil & gas sectors. With a presence in over 300 locations across 42 countries, our mission is to drive sustainability in energy and oceans.
We are seeking a visionary People Director to join our Executive Leadership Team. This pivotal role will lead our global People function into its next phase of development, building upon a strong foundation to further enhance our organizational culture and performance.
Your Role and Impact
- Strategic Leadership & Execution: Own and evolve ABL Group’s global People Strategy across all regions. Ensure HR priorities align with business needs and organizational goals. Partner with the CEO, Executive Team, and Board to shape a future-ready workforce through workforce planning, succession planning, and organizational design. Build and scale high-quality, data-driven HR services and solutions to enable effective decision-making and improve processes. Translate strategy into practical, consistent delivery across countries, while respecting local needs and regulations.
- Functional Oversight: Lead global teams in Talent Acquisition, People Systems & Rewards, Learning & Development, and HR Operations. Champion the evolution of ABL Group’s Culture, Diversity & Inclusion (D&I), and Employee Engagement.
- Executive Partnership & Influence: Act as a trusted partner to senior leaders and the Board. Engage cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, and Operations to support people-related decisions and initiatives. Represent the People function in business planning, transformation programmes, and strategic initiatives. Guide the People function through ongoing consolidation and change, including post-M&A integration.
- Leadership in HSEQ: Provide visible leadership and demonstrate a commitment to Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) by actively promoting a culture of safety, ethical practice, and compliance across all people operations.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualifications: Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organisational Psychology, or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience at a similar level. Postgraduate qualification or professional certification (e.g., CIPD, SHRM).
- Experience: Significant senior leadership experience in international HR roles. Demonstrated success in delivering a global People Strategy in a complex, matrixed organization. Experience working with Board-level stakeholders.
- Technical Skills: High level of business literacy – able to identify, interpret, and apply insights into business trends and organizational factors. Data literacy – able to use people data to inform decisions and translate insights into action. Digital agility – able to integrate technology into HR solutions and drive digital adoption. Good understanding of HR systems and system integration.
- Personal Attributes: Pragmatic, hands-on, and solution-oriented. Collaborative, with the ability to translate complex systems into practical, people-focused solutions. Detail-oriented, yet able to operate at a strategic level. Analytical thinker, able to use evidence and insight to drive decision-making. Comfortable navigating ambiguity and supporting organizational change. Strong integrity, emotional intelligence, and sound judgment. Low-ego, high-trust approach, balancing confidence with humility.
