Pay & Incentives
- Christmas Bonus: Paid on every hour from 23 Nov 2023 to 20 Dec 2025 – £2.00 per hour worked (extra £110 per week estimate).
- HGV1 Driver Rates:
- Days: up to ÂŁ16.81 per hour (inc holiday pay)
- Afternoons: up to ÂŁ17.37 per hour (inc holiday pay)
- Nights: up to ÂŁ19.05 per hour (inc holiday pay)
- Saturdays: ÂŁ18.94 per hour (inc holiday pay)
- Sundays: ÂŁ19.85 per hour (inc holiday pay)
- Days Mon‑Sat: up to £20.90 inc holiday pay
- Nights Mon‑Sun: up to £22.02 inc holiday pay
- Days: up to ÂŁ13.73 per hour (inc holiday pay)
- Nights: up to ÂŁ14.85 per hour (inc holiday pay)
Job Description
HG Recruitment is actively recruiting experienced and newly qualified drivers for HGV Class 1 drivers, shunters and HGV 2 drivers. The role involves clean and straightforward trunking to distribution centres with minimal collections and no hand‑ball. Shunters are depot‑based days or night shifts available to suites (not suitable for newly‑passed drivers).
Duties
- Adhere to safe working practices, ensuring the safety of yourself and others.
- Secure the load of the trailer to minimise damage.
- Provide excellent customer service at all times and take ownership of delivery issues.
- Carry out multi‑drop deliveries within the delivery window safely.
- Report vehicle defects to the Transport Office as necessary.
- Possess excellent customer‑facing awareness skills.
- Be a good time‑keeper and able to work unsupervised.
- Maintain an enthusiastic and reliable attitude towards delivering first‑class customer service.
- Have good communication skills and a flexible can‑do attitude.

Requirements

- Maximum 6 points for minor endorsements.
- Knowledge of driver regulations (WTD & drivers' hours).
- Good national geographical awareness.
- Good time‑keeper and able to work unsupervised.
- Enthusiastic and reliable with a commitment to delivering first‑class customer service.
- Good communication skills and a flexible can‑do attitude.
- Newly qualified HGV 1 & 2 drivers considered who can reverse confidently on a blind side.
