Senior Marketing Executive

Wilberforce Chambers is a leading UK set specialising in Chancery and Commercial law. Members handle some of the most intellectually challenging and legally significant matters at the Bar, providing advocacy, advisory, arbitration and mediation services across the UK and internationally from modern offices in London’s legal heartland.

Role Overview

As the Senior Marketing Executive you will play a pivotal role in promoting the Chambers’ services, organising high‑profile events and enhancing its digital presence. You will act as a key supporter to the Head of Marketing while mentoring the Marketing Executive, requiring a blend of strategic thinking, creativity, attention to detail and hands‑on operational excellence.

Event Organisation

  • Take a prominent role in the end‑to‑end planning, execution and budgeting of Chambers’ marketing events, conferences and internal events.
  • Generate external speaking opportunities for members and cultivate relationships with external organisations.
  • Oversee and mentor the Marketing Executive’s administration of delegate bookings and payments for conferences and seminars.
  • Oversee the Marketing Executive’s preparation of papers and PowerPoint presentations (including formatting into house style).
  • Contribute ideas to ensure effective event branding and promotion.
  • Attend Chambers’ marketing events.
  • Produce post‑event evaluation and feedback reports and communicate internally.
  • Monitor and ensure best practice when using CRM software (LEX) and ticket booking software (Eventbrite).

Brand and Design

  • Act as a brand guardian, ensuring all visual communications and marketing collaterals are of the highest standard and aligned with our brand guidelines.
  • Use Canva and other software to produce high‑quality visuals.
  • Source stock imagery.
  • With the Head of Marketing, manage external supplier relationships, including creative agencies, printers and merchandise vendors.

Digital Marketing and Social Media

  • Collaborate with the Head of Marketing to produce engaging online content, including thought‑leadership pieces and member success stories. Encourage members to keep the Marketing Team up to date with relevant and recent judgments.
  • Optimise Chambers’ social media accounts, analysing competitor presence to ensure we remain industry leaders.
  • Oversee our CRM (LEX) and email marketing campaigns, ensuring best practices and high engagement rates.
  • Liaise with our digital agency on website updates, performance and improvements.
  • Encourage, monitor and implement profile updates from members.
  • Monitor email campaigns sent via LEX.

Internal Communications

  • Oversee content produced by the Marketing Executive for internal e‑shot – Wilberforce Weekly – providing feedback and making corrections if necessary.
  • Generally, help promote internal communication and cohesion.
  • Monitor updates of the Intranet undertaken by the Marketing Executive.
  • Review the minutes, from marketing‑related internal meetings, produced by the Marketing Executive.

Legal Directories and Awards

  • Take a core role in the legal directory process to ensure members of Chambers meet deadlines and achieve new and improved rankings.
  • Give ad hoc advice to barristers on how to prepare and improve their submissions and referee selection.
  • Assist with evaluation of yearly rankings and results.

Job Specification

Essential Skills

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong track record of organising and delivering high‑quality corporate events.
  • Strong creative and design skills including prior experience of using Canva or Adobe Photoshop
  • Comfortable in generating new ideas and thinking innovatively
  • Strong English writing and proofreading skills
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • High AI literacy and high proficiency with technology generally
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Advanced Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Ability to prioritise workload across a number of different projects and demands, in a busy environment
  • Experience using CRM software
  • Experience in a similar role, gained within professional services or the legal sector

Desirable – two or more of the following

  • Experience managing large‑scale conferences in the UK
  • Experience managing events or projects from inception through to conclusion
  • Experience producing copy for website and print
  • A solid understanding of the unique structure of a barristers’ chambers and/or the wider legal industry.
