Overview
A leading London barristers chambers is now recruiting a receptionist and administrative assistant to provide a welcoming front‑of‑house experience and administrative support for our teams.
You will be joining a thriving, friendly and supportive chambers.
As a small business, the post‑holder is expected to demonstrate a high level of flexibility and a proactive attitude.
They should be willing to 'roll up their sleeves' and support colleagues by contributing to tasks outside their core responsibilities when required.
A collaborative approach and a strong team ethic are essential.
- Purpose
- To provide a professional and welcoming front‑of‑house experience for clients and members.
- To provide general administrative support.
Key responsibilities
- Reception
- Welcome and greet visitors to chambers, providing refreshments as required.
- Answer incoming calls and direct them appropriately or take accurate messages.
- Organise catering for meetings and events as required.
- Ensure reception and meeting rooms are well maintained and presentable at all times.
- Maintain stock levels across chambers.
- Report maintenance issues to the Head of Administration and assist with coordination of the same.
- Administration
- Monitor regulatory compliance for chambers, including monitoring and communicating renewal deadlines.
- Administer the mini pupillage and pupillage scheme, including application processing and communication.
- Act as the point of contact for the PEBA Mentorship Programme.
- Assist with diary management for internal meetings.
- Produce new member and new staff induction packs.
- Input data and produce Carbon Footprint Reports using the Achille Management tool.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Positive and proactive approach.
- Professional, friendly and helpful communication skills.
- Strong organisation skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
- Accurate writing ability.
- Ability to multitask and prioritise workload.
Desirable
- Experience of the Lex case management system.
- Experience of a professional services environment.
