One Essex Court is a leading set of barristers’ chambers specialising in commercial litigation and arbitration. The Chambers is currently seeking a Marketing Executive to join the marketing team. With over 141 full‑time practitioners, including 59 King’s Counsel, this role offers a fantastic opportunity to advance a career within a Magic Circle set. The Marketing Executive will assist the Marketing Manager and other team members in driving business‑development activity through a wide range of initiatives.
Purpose of Role
Assist with the day‑to‑day running of Chambers’ marketing initiatives, events, and social media activities. Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the role requires a creative and proactive candidate who will work within the Marketing Team and in liaison with the Clerking team to promote individual barristers and the set.
Key Responsibilities
- Event Management
- Assisting with the organisation of business‑development events (e.g. conferences, presentations, seminars, thought‑leadership output, dinners)
- Assisting with and attending Chambers key large‑scale client events
- Working with the wider team to identify target audiences for events and compile guest lists accordingly
- Coordinating invitations and replies to Chambers BD events
- Assisting with design and production of associated marketing materials and event promotion
- Oversight of merchandise and events/marketing supplies as required
- Assisting with the coordination of sponsored industry events
- Legal Directories
- Playing a role in the team’s coordination of Chambers’ annual legal directory submissions (e.g. The Legal 500 / Chambers UK Bar) and setting up interviews for members to speak with sector editors at the publications
- Reviewing and updating Chambers entry and individual barrister profiles in a range of industry publications, such as Chambers UK Bar, The Legal 500, Who’s Who Legal
- Social Media
- Assisting the Marketing Manager to update and maintain central social media accounts (e.g. LinkedIn, Twitter)
- Identifying future campaign opportunities
- Ensuring all posted content aligns with brand guidelines
- Website / Design / Communications and PR
- Updating and refreshing website content, including barrister profiles
- Administering and coordinating all professional photography
- Providing design briefs to graphics companies for production of online content and hard‑copy output (e.g. e‑newsletters, brochures and industry publications, webinars for YouTube channel)
- Assisting the Marketing Manager in production of legal updates/bulletins, news and other publicity
- Ongoing maintenance of client and market‑specific databases
- Being a brand champion, both internally and externally

- Supporting the clerking team with client‑specific BD initiatives
- Assisting the Senior Clerk and Marketing Manager in developing and implementing Chambers business‑development and marketing strategy

Experience / Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Previous experience (2 years minimum) in a marketing position within a similar legal or professional services environment
- Experience in events management
- Excellent organisational and time‑management skills
- Proactive and flexible
- Strong communication (both written and oral) and numeracy skills
- Self‑motivated and calm under pressure
