One Essex Court is a leading set of barristers’ chambers specialising in commercial litigation and arbitration. The Chambers is currently seeking a Junior Clerk to join its clerking team.

Purpose of role

The role will include general office duties, document production requests, delivery of case materials, and arranging for barristers and case materials to be transported to and from hearings. Previous experience is desirable but not essential.

Key responsibilities

  • Lodging of documents, accompanying members to court, delivery of papers to and from Court
  • Collection and delivery of post, by hand deliveries
  • Photocopying and bundling
  • Efficient management and distribution of incoming communications, urgent papers/instructions
  • Fixing hearings at Court
  • Entering fees and case data on to the LEX diary and fees system
  • Answering incoming telephone calls and directing calls to members and staff when reception is otherwise engaged

Qualifications

Applicants should have 2 ‘A’ Levels (Grade C or above) or an equivalent qualification. Graduates are also encouraged to apply given the longer‑term career prospects.
