The Planner is responsible for ensuring the company maintains the appropriate level of stock to meet the demand of each sales region. This role involves monitoring inventory levels, forecasting demand, and managing supplier orders to ensure supply continuity while minimising risks of overstock or stockouts. The Planner collaborates closely with sales managers, suppliers, and internal departments to maintain optimal stock levels and resolve supply chain issues through data analysis and proactive planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels across the supply chain to ensure optimal stock availability. Balance stock levels to avoid shortages or excess inventory.
- Demand Forecasting: Analyse historical sales data, current orders, and forecasts. Work closely with sales teams to improve demand planning accuracy.
- Supplier Coordination: Raise purchase orders and communicate forecasts to suppliers. Coordinate production schedules and delivery timelines with suppliers to ensure timely stock availability.
- Risk Mitigation: Identify potential risks such as stock shortages, delivery delays, or excess inventory. Recommend and implement actions to mitigate these risks.
- Performance Monitoring: Track and report supplier performance, product availability, and inventory levels. Provide performance insights and recommendations to management.
- Process Improvement: Collaborate with departments such as Sales and Production to align supply with demand. Implement strategies to improve supply chain efficiency.
- System Utilisation: Use ERP systems and planning software to manage inventory, track orders, and generate reports.
- Compliance and Additional Responsibilities: Comply with internal rules, policies, and confidentiality requirements. Ensure quality and accuracy in all job-related activities. Support smooth team workflow, including backup and cross-functional support when required. Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Education: Higher education diploma or above in Logistics Management, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Language: Excellent command of English. Mandarin Chinese is preferred but not essential.
- Experience: Experience working with ERP systems, particularly SAP, is preferred.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyse complex data and identify root causes of supply chain issues.
- Software Proficiency: Medium to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Familiarity with ERP or supply chain planning software. Strong knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Organisational Skills: Strong attention to detail. Ability to manage inventory tracking and reporting with high accuracy.
