Role Overview
Reporting to the Divisional Controller, we are seeking an Accountant to support accurate and timely period-end close activities within our Global Finance Services (GFS) shared services organisation.
You will perform a broad range of Record-to-Report (RTR) activities including journal preparation, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany accounting and variance analysis.
Working closely with Senior Accountants and finance stakeholders, you will help maintain accounting quality, financial controls and audit readiness while contributing to continuous improvement across finance processes.
- Here's what you'll be doing
- Prepare and process accounting transactions and journals in accordance with established accounting policies, procedures and deadlines.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, investigate reconciling items and support the timely resolution of outstanding balances.
- Prepare bank reconciliations and investigate outstanding or unusual items.
- Perform intercompany accounting activities, including reconciliation of balances and investigation of differences.
- Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities, ensuring assigned tasks are completed accurately and on time.
- Review accounting transactions and supporting documentation, escalating complex or unusual items where appropriate.
- Prepare variance analysis and provide clear commentary on movements in assigned balance sheet accounts and period-end results.
- Prepare schedules and supporting information for internal and external reporting requirements, ensuring accuracy and completeness ahead of submission deadlines.
- Maintain appropriate accounting documentation and supporting evidence in line with GFS standards and control requirements.
- Governance & Controls
- Perform accounting activities in accordance with established policies, procedures and internal control requirements.
- Support the implementation of accounting policies, reporting requirements and process changes.
- Prepare information and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
- Respond to audit queries and support the resolution of identified issues.
- Identify accounting, reconciliation or control issues and escalating them to the Senior Accountant or Divisional Controller as appropriate.
- Contribute to improvements in accounting processes, controls and reporting quality.
- Support process improvement and standardisation initiatives across GFS.
- Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and accuracy of recurring accounting activities.
- Support testing and implementation of finance process, system and automation improvements.
- Share knowledge and good practice with colleagues across the accounting team.
- Work collaboratively with Senior Accountants and other GFS colleagues to deliver team objectives and period-end deadlines.
- What you'll bring
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent professional qualification) in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline.
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification, or actively working towards qualification, preferred.
- Demonstrated finance experience, including exposure to financial accounting, reconciliations, intercompany accounting, period-end close and financial controls.
- Experience working within a Shared Services Centre (SSC), Global Business Services (GBS) or similar finance environment preferred.
- Experience working within a complex or multinational organisation would be advantageous.
- Technical & Operational Expertise
- ERP experience, ideally Oracle Fusion or a similar enterprise finance system.
- Good understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting and balance sheet management.
- Understanding of internal controls and governance requirements.
- Experience supporting audit activities.
- Exposure to finance process improvement or automation would be advantageous.

- Investigate and resolve reconciliation differences and routine accounting issues.
- Analyse financial information and identify unusual transactions or movements.
- Apply accounting knowledge and established procedures to day-to-day activities.
- Escalate complex or non-routine accounting matters appropriately. Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and ways of working.
- Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Build effective working relationships with colleagues across Finance and GFS.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders including Finance, Tax, Treasury, Audit and Divisional teams.
- Communicate accounting issues and financial information clearly and professionally.
- Respond to stakeholder queries in a timely and accurate manner.

- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple activities and deadlines, particularly during period-end close.

You'll play an important role in delivering accurate and timely financial accounting across Global Finance Services.
You'll gain broad exposure to Record-to-Report activities within a global organisation, working alongside experienced finance professionals while developing your technical accounting capability.
You'll also have the opportunity to contribute to process improvements, strengthen financial controls and build the experience required to progress into more senior accounting roles within GFS.
