Finance Manager, UK (9-month Fixed Term Contract)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager to join our ApotheCom team on a 9-month fixed term contract basis.

ApotheCom is an exciting leader in the field of medical communications. Drawn together from several backgrounds including the pharmaceutical industry, research, marketing, medical and regulatory writing, sales, publishing, digital media and design, we have the experience and all-round ability to conceive and deliver the best quality medical communications programmes.

About the role

Reporting to the Finance Director, the Finance Manager will take ownership of financial reporting, oversight of daily operations and contribute to ongoing improvements in finance processes. This opportunity is ideal for a qualified Accountant, who is looking to work in a fast-moving agency environment.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and deliver accurate month-end close, including journals, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and support forecasting and budgeting processes.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts with variance reporting to actuals.
  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition in line with project timelines and agency financial models.
  • Oversee day-to-day partnership with Finance Shared Services to manage finance operations including accounts payable, receivables, and cashflow.
  • Manage team members liaising with internal client service teams, to ensure timely and accurate billing and project reporting.
  • Support internal and external audit processes.
  • Respond to ad hoc requests from stakeholders including group finance and tax.
  • Provide financial insights to management to support business decision-making.
  • Pro-actively identify and implement process improvements across systems and reporting.

About you:

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
  • Experience in a similar role within a creative, communications, or professional services environment.
  • Strong understanding of project accounting and revenue recognition.
  • Proficient with finance systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Hands-on approach with strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
