A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work for an organisation that undertakes life-saving and life-changing work to individuals that are being given a second chance at life. This role is about being extremely proactive in seeking out opportunities to empathetically engage with groups fundamental to the organisation's success.

This position is of a sensitive nature and requires the successful candidate to work with groups of communities, charities, volunteers and corporates around managing a portfolio of recruitment events and appeals, providing administrative and logistical support alongside event promotion, as well as delivering training and education to better support their journey.

Day to Day responsibilities

  • Build strong relationships and work with patients and their families as a close support.
  • To manage fruitful patient engagement, including responding to initial enquiries, speaking empathetically with/meeting patients and their families.
  • Run training sessions to educate volunteers.
  • To take ownership for managing own events and external stakeholder relationships both with individuals and organisations.
  • Help to manage the Recruitment team email inbox, responding to enquiries and questions.
  • To contribute towards recruitment KPIs and targets, for both online and offline registration activities.
  • Represent the Recruitment team in internal project/campaign groups to build and manage high quality working relationships with a variety of external stakeholders.
  • To contribute towards projects that focus on core target groups for recruitment.
  • To work towards recruitment fundraising targets by actively encouraging money donations and/or fundraising alongside events.

Person Specification

  • Higher education degree or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years' work experience in a relevant position.
  • Experience working with vulnerable people and handling challenging situations sensitively and productively.
  • Proven track record in communicating successfully by phone, in person and in writing with people from all walks of life to achieve key organisational objectives.
  • Experience of working with diverse audiences.
  • Desirable but not essential
  • Experience in counselling/psychology.
  • Knowledge of blood cancer and blood disorders (not essential but advantageous).
  • Experience of working within the health sector.
  • Experience in using Salesforce.

Skills and abilities

  • Full UK driving licence and confident to drive a rental car (ESSENTIAL).
  • Excellent IT and admin skills, including use of the Microsoft Office suite and databases.
  • Excellent phone and in person communication skills, along with strong written skills.
  • Empathetic and sensitive when working with people going through very difficult circumstances and/or grief.
  • Excellent organisational and project management/planning skills.
  • Able to work well under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.
  • Able to adapt quickly to new and changing situations.
  • Solution focused.
  • Able to deal with challenging situations/conversations.
