Founded in 1971, St Michael's Middle School is a Church of England school set in stunning grounds in Colehill, on the outskirts of Wimborne Minster, Dorset. With around 600 pupils, our school covers year groups 5-8 (ages 9 to 13) and is consistently oversubscribed on first choice applications. Middle schools have the advantage of being able to blend together the best parts of primary school teaching with subject specialist teachers and facilities. Pupils study a full breadth of subjects over their four years at the school. Our facilities include science laboratories, product design and cooking workshops, specialist music rooms, ICT suites and PE facilities, including an indoor swimming pool. We are also proud to offer a wide range of clubs and activities. Each year there are activity weeks, with both residential and day trips available to the pupils. Our school benefits from a strong relationship with the wider community, with local businesses helping deliver our careers provision and charitable groups working with some of our more vulnerable pupils. St Michael's achieves high standards and has a robust self-review procedure to explore ways of maintaining and improving these standards. We do not, however, believe in change for change's sake, so we constantly challenge ourselves first with the question, 'Is this going to be better for our pupils?' We have had our efforts recognised by Ofsted 2018, graded as a good school, and by SIAMS who judged the school 'excellent' in 2019. We have also achieved a number of awards including the Platinum Level School Games Award, the National Music Mark and accreditation as an Eco-School.
Actual Salary £32,916 - £47,472 per annum with TLR 2.1 per annum (M1 to UPS1).
