Microsoft Fabric Architect / Lead Developer
Location: London (Hybrid / Client-Site)
Duration: 6 Months Initial
Are you a hands-on architect who can talk strategy in the boardroom and then pivot to building high-performance Data Factories in the afternoon? We are a boutique London-based consultancy looking for a heavy-hitting Fabric Architect to lead greenfield implementations for our Tier-1 clients. This isn’t a "sit back and draw diagrams" role; we need someone who can design the blueprint and then pick up the tools to build the foundation.
The Mission
You will be the technical North Star for our clients as they migrate to or adopt Microsoft Fabric. Your objective is to design and build end-to-end environments from scratch, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and optimized.
Key Responsibilities
- Architectural Design: Define the workspace structure, capacity planning, and governance models within Fabric.
- End-to-End Build: Hands-on development of Data Factory pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, and Notebooks.
- Storage Strategy: Designing and implementing OneLake architectures, Lakehouses, and Warehouses.
- Client Advisory: Acting as the subject matter expert to guide stakeholders through the "Fabric journey," from discovery to go-live.
Your Technical DNA
We need a specialist who lives and breathes the Microsoft data stack. You should bring:
- Fabric Mastery: Deep, practical experience across the entire Fabric ecosystem (Data Factory, Synapse Data Engineering, Data Activator, etc.).
- The "Lake" Mindset: Expert knowledge of Delta Lake formats, Medallion Architecture, and OneLake integration.
- Coding Chops: Strong SQL and PySpark skills for complex data transformations.
- Infrastructure & Security: Solid understanding of Entra ID (Azure AD) integration, Row-Level Security (RLS), and workspace permissions.
- Consulting Edge: The ability to translate complex technical requirements into clear business value for London’s leading enterprises.
Why This Role?
- True Greenfield Work: No legacy mess. You’re building from the ground up using the latest tech.
- Outside IR35: A clean, compliant contract at a competitive London market rate.
- High Impact: Work directly with decision-makers in a fast-paced, agile consultancy environment.
