We're looking for a Principal Android Engineer to join a very ambitious growth start-up who are building an AI-first platform. They are well funded, packed with talent and have a clear path to becoming an international product scaling across multiple markets. You'll take ownership of the Android platform, helping to design, build, and scale mobile products from the ground up. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines architecture, platform ownership, and active development, giving you significant influence over how products are built and delivered. You'll work closely with the CTO and senior leadership team, shaping engineering standards, mobile strategy, and user experience while building scalable, high-quality applications for a growing global customer base.
About You
You'll be an experienced Android Engineer with strong hands-on experience of:
- Kotlin & Jetpack Compose
- MVVM Architecture
- Modular Mobile Application Design
- REST APIs and Real-Time Data Integration
- Play Store Releases and Mobile CI/CD
- Performance Optimisation and Application Scalability
You'll also have:
- A proven track record of taking products from concept through to Play Store launch
- Strong architectural and system design capabilities
- Experience building consumer-facing products
- Excellent communication
- A proactive mindset with a passion for engineering excellence
- The ability to balance hands-on development with technical leadership and ownership

This business is a brand-new fast-growing, and well-backed pre-seed-funded start-up founded by an experienced leadership team with highly ambitious international growth plans. They currently operate from London and Malta, with London becoming the long-term technology and marketing hub. The company is still intentionally small and highly collaborative, with around 10–11 employees in the UK and a further team in Malta. Their vision is to build world-class internal technology capability as they scale globally across multiple regulated markets.
