You will be taking primary ownership of day-to-day IT operations, cyber security, and vendor management across an expanding estate supporting roughly 500 to 600 users across approximately 23 locations in the UK & Ireland. Reporting directly to the Transformation Director, you will act as the organisation's trusted technical authority, translating overarching technology strategy into reliable, secure, and cost-effective IT delivery.

A major priority for this role will be leading key infrastructure projects, including a crucial migration project to consolidate everyone onto a single Microsoft tenant. Additionally, you will oversee third-party relationships—particularly managing the Managed Service Provider (MSP) to ensure outsourced infrastructure and support services consistently meet SLAs and security requirements.

About you

We are looking for an IT lead whose mindset, values, and behavioural fit match their drive for the role. Rather than focusing purely on rigid technical testing or exact qualifications, we value strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative approach, and the motivation to take full accountability for vendor relationships and operational delivery. While experience with MSPs, tenant-to-tenant migrations, or mergers is useful, your drive, commercial awareness, and value-fit are what matter most.

Technologies & core skills:

  • Microsoft 365 (including Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and Intune)
  • Cyber Security Frameworks & Controls (Microsoft Defender, Conditional Access, MFA, Vulnerability Management)
  • Information Security Governance, Risk & Compliance (UK GDPR, Cyber Essentials / Cyber Essentials Plus, ISO 27001)
  • Third-Party MSP & Vendor Management
  • Endpoint Management, Networking Fundamentals (Firewalls, VPNs), and Identity & Access Management

(Specific technical certifications or formal qualifications are flexible—your drive, integrity, and behavioural fit are key!)

The Company

This established, multi-site organisation operates across over 20 locations in the UK and Ireland. They avoid overly rigid bureaucracy, placing a high value on clear communication, ownership, and a genuinely collaborative workplace culture. It is a supportive business where your leadership directly shapes a modern, secure IT landscape and protects core operational outcomes.

Why you should do this job

This role offers genuine technical authority and operational ownership over a high-impact, flagship consolidation and cyber security programme without unnecessary red tape. You will benefit from an efficient, candidate-friendly hiring process—a single 45-minute regional panel interview (with 3 people) designed to avoid unnecessary travel. On top of that, you will enjoy a solid employment package featuring private medical cover, generous life assurance, and a pension scheme within an organization actively harmonising benefits to support its staff.

Location

United Kingdom (Hybrid, with regional interview options available).

The Money

Competitive salary + comprehensive benefits package including: 25 days holiday, private medical cover, 4x life assurance.
