About the Team and Role
The Senior Analyst, Marine & Energy Liability (M&E) Claims is a key technical position within Inigo, responsible for overseeing the M&E claims and handling the most complex cases. Working closely with the Claims Leadership Team to aspire to run a market leading technical unit within claims that is fully embedded within the product line. They will partner with underwriters to sell the claims value proposition and build confidence and trust with our Clients and Brokers. Our products are aimed at the global M&E market so experience in handling all aspects of M&E claims would be preferred, but we are aiming this recruitment at someone that primarily has experience and skills handling the most complex of Marine claims.
We are looking for someone that loves all aspects of claims. That means they are experienced and capable of handling complex claims and as we grow further, enjoy managing or developing junior members of the team. They are a self-starter, always looking for the best way to partner with Underwriters in learning from losses and building strong relationships with Brokers and Clients – preferably across the US as well as London. They know the US market leading experts, especially lawyers, and are comfortable attending and leading mediations. They have a keen interest in data and analytics and can use claims data to discover trends and inform all parts of the business.
The successful candidate will do this by:
- Providing leadership for M&E technical claims with oversight for accurate and timely case reserves and payments. Leading with global Marine complex claims experience is critical.
- Accountability for making decisions on the largest and most complex losses in their line of business.
- Holding a high level of authority for M&E claims and overseeing areas where delegation of reserving, payment and settlement authority has been given to more junior internal staff and any external claims resources for their line of business.
- Being the claims technical leader, technical guru and an industry thought leader in M&E Claims, delivering technical training that keeps staff current with industry practices and changes.
- Designing best in class processes and draft documents for M&E claims; ensuring the relevant quality assurance against these are audited.
- Creating and nurturing collaborative relationships with the Product leaders to ensure they are kept current and participating in decisions that are fundamental to their business.
- Holding responsibility for reporting trends in M&E claims and working closely with the Product leaders to learn lessons from losses and working with actuaries for reserving decisions to encourage a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
- Achieving a reputation of claims excellence, innovation and service delivery in the Marketplace.
- Ensuring you are operating within appropriate regulatory framework boundaries; adhere to all Inigo's policies, audits, controls and risk procedures; and protecting all licences and agreements.
To do this, we're going to need you to bring:
- Extensive technical claims expertise and demonstrable working knowledge of the most significant and complex claims, ideally gained from working for a Lead insurer.
- A solutions orientated mindset working with Clients and Brokers in stressful situations.
- A rich pedigree of leadership experience, comfortable to lead from the front and lead by example with the internal claims team, in the Market and externally with Brokers and Clients.
- A solid belief in a team culture. Developing and growing others by coaching and inspiring them to grow and succeed will be critical to the future success of Inigo.
- A passion for data analytics and using trends to drive better outcomes for Inigo and Clients.
- A low ego and highly collaborative approach to all matters and enjoy building constructive and trusting relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation.
- An agile, flexible and change orientated mindset, and someone who is comfortable with ambiguity and able to juggle many priorities with a clear drive to create a best in class claims organisation in a start-up environment.
