This is an exciting opportunity to train and develop as a Breast Care Nurse, supporting women through the initial stages of their breast care journey. We are looking for a compassionate, motivated and pro-active nurse who is eager to specialise in breast health. You will be fully supported to develop the skills and confidence needed to become a competent Breast Care Nurse within a supportive multidisciplinary team.

What you will do:

  • Complete a 12 week post graduate course in Principles of Breast Cancer Care
  • Support women from initial screening, through assessment, to diagnosis and referral for treatment.
  • Provide emotional support, evidence-based advice and clear communication to women and their families.
  • Assist in breast clinics, supporting clinicians and junior staff
  • Learn to be a woman’s advocate, especially within MDT meetings.
  • Learn to deliver sensitive information with empathy and professionalism
  • Develop knowledge in breast conditions, diagnostics and treatment.
  • Follow a structured training and development pathway – to include Introduction to Breast Care Course, 12-week course as above and Advanced Communication Course
  • Gain specialist competencies and attend relevant courses.
  • Promote women’s health, breast awareness and screening uptake.
  • Assist in developing an active Health Promotion programme.
  • Participate in planning and development of breast care services
  • Assist with procurement and maintaining stock levels.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration
  • Minimum of 3 years post-registration experience
  • Basic IT skills and documentation accuracy
