About the role
Hours: Monday-Sunday, 36 hours a week, 3x12-hour shifts. We are looking to recruit a Senior Radiographer in Oxford to support a nationwide programme enhancing diagnostic radiography in the community. This role will work across MRI and CT, offering opportunities to develop and maintain skills in multiple modalities. Advanced clinical knowledge and experience in CT are required.
What you will do
- Ensure patients receive the best standard of care while generating high-quality images to support their healthcare pathway.
- Deliver an effective and professional service, working alongside your colleagues in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Carry out modality-specific imaging procedures to the best practice standards of radiographic techniques.
What you are responsible for
- Providing a great experience for patients attending their diagnostic procedure, supporting them from referral to results.
- Running quality assurance checks on equipment and acting as appropriate.
- Respecting patients’ custom, values and spiritual beliefs, ensuring their views are sought and taken into account.
- Performing triage functions of referrals, as required.
- Supporting patient bookings and maintaining accurate, up-to-date information in patient information systems.
- Completing competency assessments.
- Adhering to all operational procedures.
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
- Working as a practice educator, assisting placement students and colleagues in achieving their learning outcomes and development in the department.
- Sharing knowledge and clinical experience with the wider team to support each other’s growth and development.
We are looking for someone who has
- BSc Radiography or equivalent.
- Membership of an appropriate professional body and a valid registration (HCPC).
- A strong understanding of fundamental MRI and CT physics and different scanning techniques and sequences.
- A proven knowledge of the requirements of a radiographer’s role regarding the care of patients, their careers and other colleagues.
- A high level of professionalism and technical standard of work.
- Aptitude towards improving quality.
- The ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
- Understanding of the implications of the Data Protection Act, Caldicott Principles and GDPR.
- A flexible approach to work and ability to work across 7 days (Mon-Sun).
- A strong team-player attitude, being supportive, caring, reliable and trustworthy.
- The ability to remain calm when working under pressure in a busy environment.
- A positive attitude, taking pride in their work and passion for the service they provide.
You should apply if you have experience
- Working with MRI and CT equipment in either a hospital or mobile setting.
- In both routine and complex MRI and CT examinations.
- In different courses such as infection control training, manual handling, basic life support.
- Scanning with contrast.
- In health and safety policies and procedures with imaging equipment.
- Working in a multidisciplinary team.
- Supporting other members of the team in their development and training.
