We are seeking a proactive and compassionate Administration & Engagement Officer to help increase uptake of the diabetic eye screening programme among Persistent Did Not Attenders (PDNAs) and other underserved groups. You will engage directly with patients – primarily by telephone – to encourage participation, understand barriers to attendance, and ensure patient voices inform service improvement.

Main duties of the job:

  • Contact PDNA patients to encourage attendance and reduce non‑attendance rates
  • Engage underserved communities, educating patients on the benefits of screening
  • Record contact attempts and patient feedback accurately
  • Track patient progress through the screening pathway
  • Contribute to improving engagement strategies and produce monthly activity reports
  • Liaise with care homes, mental‑health units, universities, and other organisations to support access and uptake

About you:

  • Confident and professional on the telephone
  • Experience in a customer, patient, or public‑facing role
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Understanding of confidentiality, data protection, and safeguarding
  • Healthcare or NHS screening experience desirable
