The North and East Devon Breast Screening Service invites approximately 100,000 women to screening every three years. The static screening unit is located at Matford Business Centre and is supported by two mobile units covering 19 sites across North and East Devon. Patients requiring treatment are referred to Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Trust for surgical and oncological services.

As a Breast Care Nurse you will champion and provide professional nursing care to women undergoing breast assessment investigations, ensuring they receive the best possible support throughout their screening journey. Key responsibilities include:
- Provide professional nursing care, reassurance and support during breast assessment investigations.
- Identify women who may need extra support and guide them through treatment pathways with clarity and compassion.
- Offer emotional and practical support to patients and families, signposting or referring where appropriate.
- Support patients at high familial risk of breast cancer with evidence‑based advice.
- Ensure patients have the right information to make informed decisions about their treatment.
- Act as a trusted resource for colleagues, sharing knowledge and promoting best practice.
- Champion patient‑centred care across the screening service area.
What we’re looking for:
- A qualified Breast Care Nurse with a minimum of 5 years post‑registration experience as an RGN.
- Skilled in supporting women through diagnosis and treatment challenges.
- An excellent communicator, empathetic, professional and confident in handling sensitive conversations.
- Organised, adaptable and able to prioritise effectively in a busy clinical environment.
- A strong team player who can also work independently.
- Committed to maintaining high standards of confidentiality, professionalism and patient care.
- Knowledge of NBSS systems, NHS Breast Screening Programme or Breast Cancer Care guidelines is an advantage but not essential.
