Main duties of the job
As Breast Care Nurse at InHealth, you will champion and provide professional nursing care in the support of women undergoing breast assessment investigations, ensuring they are fully supported and receive the best possible care.
Location and Hours: Exeter, Devon | 21.6 hours per week (Mon–Wed)
What you will be doing
- Provide professional nursing care, reassurance, and support to women undergoing breast assessment investigations.
- Identify women who may need extra support and guide them with clarity and compassion through treatment pathways.
- Offer emotional and practical support to patients and their families, signposting or referring when appropriate.
- Support patients at high familial risk of breast cancer with clear, evidence-based advice.
- Ensure patients have the right information to make informed decisions about their treatment.
- Act as a trusted resource for colleagues, sharing knowledge and promoting best practice.
- Champion patient-centred care across our screening service area.
What we are looking for
- A qualified Breast Care Nurse with substantial experience in breast care (minimum 5 years post-registration as an RGN).
- Skilled in supporting women through the challenges of diagnosis and treatment.
- An excellent communicator, empathetic, professional, and confident in handling sensitive conversations.
- Organised, adaptable, and able to prioritise effectively in a busy clinical environment.
- A strong team player who can also work independently.
- Committed to maintaining high standards of confidentiality, professionalism, and patient care.
- Knowledge of NBSS systems, the NHS Breast Screening Programme, or Breast Cancer Care guidelines would be an advantage, but is not essential.
