The Shift Engineer is a key member of the Maintenance team, responsible for delivering prompt, effective, and high-quality engineering support across the property. This role ensures that all hotel systems, facilities, and equipment are maintained to Montcalm’s luxury standards while complying with statutory and legal regulations. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Shift Engineer will work across planned and reactive maintenance tasks, contribute to energy efficiency initiatives, and provide technical expertise to support a seamless guest and colleague experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee day-to-day maintenance operations, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general building upkeep.
- Ensure all guest and staff maintenance requests are resolved promptly and effectively.
- Coordinate with Front Office and Housekeeping to resolve issues swiftly with minimal disruption.
- Uphold Montcalm’s luxury brand standards in all maintenance activities.
- Maintain mechanical, electrical, architectural, and decorative finishes to the highest standard.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programmes.
- Lead, supervise, and motivate the maintenance team and external contractors.
- Monitor and control departmental expenses, labour, and contracted services.
- Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and spare parts.
- Conduct performance reviews and foster a positive team culture.
- Ensure adherence to hotel policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and corrective actions.
- Coordinate with external inspectors to ensure certifications are up to date.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within Front Office or a similar luxury hospitality environment.

- Proficiency in PMS systems (Opera or similar).
- High attention to detail and ability to multitask under pressure.
- A passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences.
- Fluency in English and any additional languages is an advantage.
