Open Position:
The Head, Global Scientific and Regulatory Affairs (GSRA), Europe Middle East & Africa (EMEA) Region, is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the scientific and regulatory function in the region. This role engages functional partners across the business, enabling new business and protecting existing business, leveraging insights for solutions to scientific and regulatory opportunities. The postholder will develop and implement regulatory strategies, anticipating changes in regulations, ensuring compliance across the Ingredion product portfolio and successful product development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Lead the SRA function in EMEA, promoting team recognition and fostering cross-collaboration with internal partners.
- Compliance: Minimise risk by providing concise regulatory advice to assure compliance and safe products for the EMEA market.
- Risk Responsible: Interpret legislation’s impact on the business and provide guidance on regulatory opportunities/issues/threats.
- Business Partnership: Partner with innovation leaders to support product development and align organizational goals with SRA plans.
- Customer Collaboration: Build strong relationships with customers and interact with regulatory counterparts at customer companies.
- Regulatory Insights: Stay ahead of regulations and prepare for upcoming changes.
- External Affairs: Lead interface in key ingredient associations in the EU & UK to anticipate and influence regulatory requirements.
- Concise Communication: Provide regulatory guidance and recommendations to shape business positions and product messaging.
Knowledge, Skills & Requirements:
- Educated to Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD level in Food Science, Food Law/Policy, Biological Sciences, or a relevant field.
- Minimum 10+ years experience in regulatory affairs within the food industry.
- Fully conversant with EU legislation, particularly in general food law, novel foods, and food additives.
- Desirable knowledge in chemical law, i.e. REACH.
- Strong ability to interpret potential regulations’ impact.
- Effective communication skills with clarity in complex regulatory positions.
- Proficient in influencing and negotiating in a multi-cultural environment.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Good judgment and high integrity, with appreciation of business values and ethics.
- Fluent English speaker; knowledge of French or additional EU languages is an advantage.
