Overview
In this role you will deliver accurate monthly management accounts and maintain rigorous financial controls within the Controllership team. You will manage month-end close, reconciliations, and statutory compliance to support governance and reporting for the business. You will interact with payroll, FP&A and audit activities, shaping efficient finance processes in a fast-paced, service-led environment. Responsibilities
- Prepare and post month-end journals including accruals, prepayments, COGS, payroll, intercompany and FX
- Deliver monthly P&L and balance sheet analysis for accounts under remit
- Maintain and govern the month-end close timetable with the Financial Controller
- Produce variance commentary on actuals vs prior periods
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations across key accounts
- Ensure compliance with UK GAAP/IFRS and internal control frameworks
- Support process documentation and control improvement initiatives
- Prepare VAT returns and HMRC compliance
- Maintain the fixed asset register, including depreciation and capitalisation
- Support internal and external audits with schedules and evidence
- Perform daily/weekly cashbook updates, bank postings, and cash reconciliations
- Liaise with Payroll for accurate journals, reconciliations, and statutory deductions
- Collaborate with FP&A as necessary
- Any other task as deemed necessary within scope
Key requirements
- AAT qualified or ACCA/CIMA part-qualified/qualified
- Experience in month-end close and management accounting
- Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, XLOOKUP)
- Strong control mindset with excellent attention to detail
- Comfortable working in a service-led and fast-paced environment
