At Ingoldmells Academy we are looking for a new member to join our successful and welcoming team, to provide 1:1 support for the learning and personal development of a pupil with additional needs and/or disabilities. The role is currently based in KS1 moving to KS2. This post is a part time, 1 year fixed contract at 32.5 hours per week with potential to become permanent depending on academy needs.
Candidates must hold a minimum of a relevant NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification. Previous experience working with SEND pupils is advantageous.
About us: Ingoldmells Academy and Nursery is a thriving GAT academy that is innovative and inclusive for children aged 3-11 on the East Coast in the village of Ingoldmells. The academy is a warm and friendly environment that delivers an engaging curriculum to pupils from Nursery to Year 6. Ofsted rated the academy as ‘Good’ in March 2024. About the role: We need a skilled 1:1 Learning Assistant to enable the pupil to learn as effectively as possible by:
- Ensuring the pupil is able to use equipment and resources through high quality modelling and support.
- Motivating and encouraging the pupil as required by providing levels of individual attention, reassurance and help with learning tasks as appropriate to their needs.
- Liaising with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals about Education and Health Care Plans (EHCP), contributing to the planning and delivery.
- Providing nurture and high levels of social support.
- Consistently and effectively implementing agreed behaviour management strategies.
- Helping to make appropriate resources to support the pupil.
- Providing intense support and guidance using knowledge of pupils’ needs to ensure continuity.
Desirable knowledge and experience:
- Experience as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant within a Primary school.
- Knowledge of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage and/or the National Curriculum.
- An understanding of inclusion, making the curriculum accessible to all learners.
- The ability to work in a team in order to achieve successful outcomes for learners.
- Candidate must possess at minimum a relevant NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification.
