The Role

Senior Civil Engineer – Cambridge office

The role will involve providing a professional civil engineering service to the Practice and its clients. Projects span across all sectors for internal colleagues and external clients, covering a variety of work from building drainage to civil infrastructure.

Please note: This role may be subject to security checks such as Disclosure and Barring Service, Baseline Personnel Security Standard, Counter Terrorist Check, Security Check or Developed Vetting clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Instrumental in the commercial and technical success of civil engineering projects within a team
  • Assist in the promotion of the Practice’s civil engineering services
  • Design practical civil solutions, interpreting clients’ requirements in a practical and economic manner
  • Maintain the highest standards of integrity in business relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Ensure tasks in all projects are completed within the timescale and budget to a high standard
  • Ensure project involvement is completed professionally to ensure client satisfaction
  • Be aware of financial targets and endeavour to achieve them
  • Collaborate with other team members to keep the Manager database up‑to‑date with changes to fees, progress and projections
  • Input fee quotations as required to assist in bidding for work

Essential skills, experience and attributes

  • Post‑qualification experience covering all aspects of professional activity within the civil engineering discipline
  • Understanding of working within different client sectors (public and private organisations)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of building construction, building regulations and allied legislation
  • Relevant degree in Civil Engineering
  • Full Chartered membership or working towards it
