What you'll do
- Collaborate with senior planners and project managers to assist in the preparation of planning applications and supporting documentation.
- Conduct site assessments and research to gather relevant data for planning proposals, ensuring compliance with local and national planning policies.
- Participate in public consultations and stakeholder engagement activities, presenting planning proposals and gathering feedback from the community.
- Assist in the preparation of planning reports, presentations, and other documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the team in monitoring and analyzing planning policy changes and their implications for ongoing and future projects.
- Contribute to the development of master plans and urban design strategies that promote sustainable development.
- Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other planning tools to analyze spatial data and create visual representations of planning proposals.
- Work on a variety of projects, ranging from residential developments to commercial and mixed-use schemes, ensuring high-quality outcomes that meet client expectations.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and legislative changes that impact planning and development.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders to facilitate successful project delivery.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to enhance project efficiency and innovation.
- Undertake additional duties as required to support the planning team and the wider organization.
Requirements
- A degree in Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and policies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and effectively.
- Proficiency in using planning software and tools, including GIS applications.
- A keen interest in urban planning, sustainable development, and community engagement.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to learn from experienced colleagues.
- A valid UK driving license is preferred, as some site visits may be required.
