The role…
We are currently recruiting for a Health & Safety/CDM Advisor with Principal Designer experience to join our team in our Colchester office.
The successful candidate will advise and support clients and project teams in meeting their health and safety responsibilities, ensuring compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and wider health and safety legislation.
They will coordinate health and safety measures throughout all RIBA stages and project phases, manage the flow of health and safety information across the project lifecycle, and work collaboratively with clients, designers, Principal Contractors and other stakeholders to ensure that projects are delivered safely and efficiently.
The role will involve advising clients and stakeholders on the practical implications of CDM requirements, undertaking Principal Designer duties, managing multiple projects for both internal and external clients, and contributing to the continued development of our wider Health & Safety team.
The successful candidate may also support business development activities, bid submissions, and the auditing and reporting of CDM compliance across projects.
Our team works on projects across the UK and, therefore, the role will require occasional travel and overnight stays.

- Advise and assist clients and project teams on health and safety and CDM matters.
- Support compliance with health and safety legislation, including CDM Regulations 2015.
- Coordinate and implement health and safety measures throughout the pre-construction phase and across all project stages.
- Prepare, manage and communicate project documentation through the appropriate channels.
- Develop and maintain strategies to ensure the effective flow of health and safety information throughout the project lifecycle.
- Liaise with Designers, Principal Contractors, Clients and other stakeholders to ensure designs adequately address health and safety risks.
- Advise Clients on the practical application of CDM requirements and their statutory duties.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously for both internal and external clients.
- Work collaboratively with the wider Health & Safety team to promote consistency and best practice.
- Support business development activities, bid submissions, and the auditing of CDM compliance where required.
- Tech IOSH or higher-grade membership of IOSH.
- Associate Membership of APS (Aa PS) or higher.
