You will professionally lead the clinical and care team during any span of duty,ensuring a safe, effective, and efficient nursing service that meets ourresidents' holistic needs. You will provide exceptional clinical care inaccordance with assessed needs, ensuring strict compliance with the Nursing andMidwifery Council (NMC) Code of Conduct and industry-leading standards.
Key responsibilities are to provide clinical leadership for the care team andact as a champion for residents' safety, clinical governance, and dignity. Youwill maintain your skills, professional knowledge, and NMC registration,ensuring all complex nursing and personal care are delivered according to thelatest guidelines and best practice evidence. You will ensure the ongoingsafety of residents, colleagues, and visitors through systematic clinicalassessment, risk monitoring, and robust care reviews. In this role, you will deliver effective leadership duringyour shift, offering direct support, guidance, and supervision for seniorcarers and the care team. You will supervise nursing and care colleagues onaday-to-day basis andliaise with GPs, social workers, and multidisciplinary health professionals tosecure optimal care. You will demand high-quality, evidence-based care deliveryfocused on residents' individual choices, promoting a professional imagethrough excellent communication, appropriate behaviour, and appearance.Furthermore, you will support new colleagues through induction programs,competencies, and training assessments.
To maintain skills and knowledge, you will ensure care isdelivered according to the latest evidence and guidelines. You must keep up todate with professional developments, revalidation requirements, and bestpractice in older people and dementia care. This includes undertakingstatutory, mandatory, and advanced clinical training, sharing your learningacross daily practice. You will oversee and deliver daily clinical care,including complex wound management, pressure area prevention, syringe drivers, nutrition,and infection control. You also take full responsibility for the safe, legaladministration, storage, and recording of medication in accordance with NMCguidelines and The Ingleborough Nursing Home Policies and Procedures, actingalways within your professional scope of practice.
To ensure safe environments, you will develop, implement,and evaluate detailed clinical care plans using validated tools such as MUST,Waterlow, falls assessments, fluid or nutrition charts, and blood glucosemonitoring. You will report and investigate all accidents, incidents, andnear-misses promptly, ensuring reports are written clearly and concisely sothat remedial learning is immediately integrated. You will promoteactivity-based, person-centred care to support resident independence.Additionally, you will maintain infection control standards, protect residents'property, and ensure clinical equipment is safe, clean, and fully functional,reporting faults immediately.
Governance and communication require you to maintainaccurate records and align daily practice with company policies, regulatoryguidelines, and CQC frameworks. You will ensure effective, clearly documentedhandover systems facilitate the seamless transfer of clinical informationbetween shifts, and actively participate in clinical and team meetings. Youmust thoroughly understand the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and Deprivation ofLiberty Safeguards (DoLS) regarding consent and best-interest decision-making. Professionalupdates must be provided to residents and relatives while remaining strictlymindful of data protection, confidentiality, and Caldicott principles,maintaining a high standard of clinical record keeping under the Health andSocial Care Act.
For Safeguarding Adults and the Mental Capacity Act, youwill complete required training to confidently implement safeguarding policies,taking responsibility for reporting concerns to the senior person on duty,Registered Manager, or Nominated Individual in line with the North YorkshireSafeguarding Adults Board (NYSAB) frameworks.
Regarding Health and Safety, under the Health and Safety atWork Act, you must take reasonable care of the health and safety of yourselfand others affected by your acts or omissions. You will co-operate with youremployer to ensure compliance with legislation and organisational procedures,never misusing equipment provided for welfare, and ensuring adequate measuresprotect all staff through a well-maintained, safe environment.
You will respect strict confidentialityin line with the Data Protection Act. This includes processing electronic andpaper care data fairly and lawfully, holding data only for specified purposes,and disclosing it only to authorised parties. Experience
- Post qualification experience social care, community or acute clinical setting
- Proven experience in care planning and risk assessments

- Valid and active NMC Registration Pin
- RGN / RMN/RMLD Degree or Diploma in Nursing
