Senior Finance Business Partner - Interim - Lancashire
c£500 - £600 per day | hybrid

Somebody has to be the person who asks where the numbers come from.

A c£30m framework portfolio at a nationally operating contractor has outgrown the way it is reported and controlled. The project is very much live, and their client is one of the largest companies in the UK. The structure underneath has not caught up.

That is why this role exists.

- You will build a Standard Reporting Framework where there isn’t one, and put governance and controls behind it.

- You will run contract reviews, pipeline analysis and monthly forecasts across target cost and NEC contracts, covering cost-to-complete, variations, compensation events and pain/gain share.

- You will show commercial teams what good looks like on milestones, completion and retention.

Three questions sit under the whole brief: which projects are underperforming? What are the key commercial risks? Are the forecasts credible?

You will answer them for operations directors, project managers and quantity surveyors, some of whom will welcome the challenge and some of whom will need pushing.

What you bring

  • Finance business partnering, commercial finance or FP&A experience from construction, civil engineering, Infrastructure or contracting sectors. This is essential.
  • Hands-on WIP, accrued income and contract accounting.
  • Evidence of impact: a forecast that changed a decision, margin you recovered, a control that stuck.
  • A strong personality. You can disagree in a room, stay calm when things are untidy, and prefer change to steady state.

The honest bit: you are joining something unfinished, and you will be expected to make people listen from week one.

In it for you: a framework you build and leave behind, direct access to a Commercial Finance Director and senior operational leaders, and a backed, acquisitive business used to working with interim talent.
