Assistant Accountant
Chesterfield | Office-based | Up to £30,000 DOE
The Opportunity
I’m currently recruiting for an Assistant Accountant to join the finance team at the Group Head Office of an established and growing business.
This is a great opportunity for someone who has already built a good grounding in finance and is now looking to broaden their experience across month-end and management accounting.
Reporting into the Management Accountant, you’ll gain exposure to a range of areas including balance sheet and P&L reconciliations, journals, accruals and prepayments, fixed assets and intercompany accounting.
What you'll be doing
- Preparing monthly balance sheet and P&L reconciliations
- Completing intercompany reconciliations
- Maintaining and reconciling the fixed asset register
- Preparing and reviewing prepayments and accruals
- Preparing and posting journals
- Supporting the month-end process and ensuring reconciliations are completed accurately and within deadlines
- Posting and analysing expenses
- Supporting the Management Accountant and providing cover when required
- Working with the wider finance team and internal departments
- Following established finance processes and controls
- Assisting with other finance duties as required
About you
This role would suit someone who already has some experience within an accounting environment and is keen to take the next step in developing their technical accounting skills.
You could be AAT qualified or studying towards AAT, ACCA, CIMA or ACA, and will ideally have some previous experience of balance sheet reconciliations and month-end processes.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Detail-focused and takes pride in getting things right
- Comfortable working with numbers and Excel
- Able to work to deadlines, particularly around month-end
- Organised and reliable
- Flexible and willing to get involved across the wider finance function
- Keen to learn and develop their career within finance
The environment
You’ll be joining a friendly and supportive finance team within the Group Head Office, working closely with experienced members of the finance function.
