Ensure the monomer plant is operated safely and efficiently following the agreed S&OP production plan. Coordinate the daily activities of the Monomer team and plant contractors, and oversee training of new personnel.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage day‑to‑day plant operations to meet the S&OP plan while maintaining safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with the Maintenance Planner.
- Coordinate plant outages with engineering, maintenance, and S&OP.
- Review and update plant operating procedures as needed.
- Address and resolve customer complaints promptly.
- Audit operator performance for compliance with safety and procedural requirements.
- Work occasional out‑of‑hours for plant operations, shutdowns, or commissioning new processes.
- Act as incident controller when required.
- Mentor apprentices through the program.
- Collaborate with the plant engineer on continuous‑improvement projects and operator‑suggested improvements.
- Maintain regular interaction with other manufacturing managers, purchasing, and supply‑chain functions.
- Purchase operational items under £10K and sanction personnel costs such as overtime.
Qualifications and Desired Skills
- Minimum of HNC/HND in Chemical Engineering or related discipline, or 5–10 years of experience in complex plant operations.
- Demonstrated leadership and motivational skills.
- Effective communicator able to present technical information to varied audiences.
- Proven experience with high‑risk permit‑to‑work systems and risk assessment.
- Strong technical understanding of chemical plants and processes.
- Commitment to process and systems improvement initiatives.
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Email); SAP competence is a plus.
