Rebuilding your life after prison is one of the toughest challenges a person can face. But with the right support, it’s possible. That’s where you come in. We’re looking for an Accommodation Advisor to join the team - someone with a rare mix of compassion, resilience, organisation and flexibility. This is for the person who understands that rehabilitation isn’t just about offering advice; it’s about rolling up your sleeves and proactively supporting individuals on their journey towards securing stable accommodation and rebuilding their lives.

About the Role:

You’ll mainly be based out of the probation office and will work with a caseload of individuals to provide advice and support relevant to their housing needs. You’ll carry out initial assessments to understand needs and agree an action plan. This may include support to end/sustain a tenancy, find accommodation or basic budgeting advice. Whilst we don’t provide accommodation, we work with organisations that do, and nurturing these relationships is key in this role. You’ll travel between your local probation offices and may be required to deliver our service in prisons, meeting people where they are, so no day will be the same and the ability to travel is essential.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Collaborating with key partners: You’ll work alongside probation and other stakeholders to secure housing solutions i.e. local authorities, housing strategy teams and landlords.
  • Caseload management: You’ll manage multiple individuals, balancing their needs while keeping up with all the related admin.
  • Working to KPI’s: You’ll be responsible for meeting performance targets and deadlines. Success in this role requires strong time management, prioritisation, and a results-driven approach to ensure the best outcomes.
  • Quality Recording: Keep thorough records of all your work on our IT system, ensuring progress is properly tracked.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Relationship Building: You’re able to connect with people at all levels, engaging with key stakeholders within probation and building relationships with service users in a way that’s genuine, promotes a sense of trust and is non-judgmental.
  • IT and Administrative skills: Keeping meticulous records of every interaction within strict set timelines to measure client progress and ensure effective interventions.
  • Safeguarding awareness: You are supporting complex individuals at a challenging time in their lives and will need to be able to identify any safeguarding risks.
  • Ownership: You will be the sort of person who thrives on taking ownership, even during the busiest of times and is motivated by getting results.

We particularly welcome applications from those with experience in housing and an awareness of housing legislation. Whilst we welcome applications from those with lived experience, this role requires an enhanced DBS check and HMPPS EL1 vetting. As we wait for the necessary background checks to be completed, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to shadow your colleagues, ask questions, and learn the ropes.

Our Justice division is dedicated to transforming lives and creating safer communities. Our mission is to reduce reoffending, build stronger communities, and help people realise their potential.

At Ingeus, we’ve spent time listening to our employees to build our benefits package:

  • 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, with the option to trade for additional leave.
  • EAP Support programme available 24/7, including 6 free counselling sessions.
  • Private medical insurance and life assurance.
  • Up to 2 days of Community Giving (volunteering) each year to support a cause that matters to you.
  • Eyecare vouchers to help with glasses or eye care.
  • Online Shopping discounts.
  • Cycle to Work scheme and travel season ticket loan.
  • Long service awards to celebrate your commitment.
  • Salary Finance offering financial education and advice.
  • The opportunity to purchase extra benefits like critical illness cover and dental insurance.

We understand that everyone’s journey is different, and we’re committed to making our recruitment process as inclusive and accessible as possible. If you require any support or adjustments - whether that’s help with the application, interview format, or anything else - we’re here to listen and work with you to find the best approach. Our goal is to ensure you can showcase your skills and potential in a way that works for you. Please don’t hesitate to contact us to discuss how we can support you.
