Registered Nurse (RGN), Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist. If you’re a clinician who enjoys structured work, meaningful conversations and predictable hours, this role offers a rewarding new direction. As a Functional Assessor with Ingeus, you’ll use your clinical reasoning—not hands-on care—to support people living with long-term health conditions, with the benefit of hybrid working and a clear work–life balance. However, this role requires accuracy, strong IT competence and daily high-quality clinical report writing. If you prefer hands-on care, struggle with structured frameworks or dislike producing detailed written reports, this will not be the right fit.
Day to Day
- You’ll carry out up to six functional assessments per day, completing:
- Telephone, video or in-person assessments
- Evidence review and clinical triage
- Focused questioning and active listening
- Clear, objective clinical reporting to strict standards
You’ll manage your workload independently, and your reports will contribute to DWP decision making.
Pay and Benefits
- Up to 10% quarterly bonus
- £2,000 referral scheme
- Hybrid working (post-training)
- 25 days annual leave + BH
- Private pension & Private Medical Insurance
- Paid CPD + NMC/HCPC registration fee reimbursement
Training
You’ll complete a 9-week full-time induction with expert clinical tutors, followed by supervised assessments and ongoing feedback. Training is structured, detailed and essential for success in the role.
Development
- For those who meet quality and performance standards:
- 35 hours of protected CPD each year
- Support from clinical supervisors
- Progression routes into Quality, Training, or Clinical Practice Lead roles
Your Requirements
- NMC or HCPC registration (Nurse, Physio or OT)
- 12+ months UK post-registration experience
- Strong IT and written communication skills
- High attention to detail and objectivity
If you’re organised, motivated and open to structured learning, this role offers stability, development and a balanced alternative to traditional clinical practice.
