As part of the Supply Chain team, the Material Handler will manage the whole process of material handling and inventory management at the Hazel Grove site from first receipt of goods, to recording, storage and allocation into finished products and finally despatch.
Key Tasks
- Inventory Handling – Store raw materials or components. Maintain stock levels and update records.
- Issuing Materials – Pick and issue materials to production based on requirements. Ensure correct stock allocation and move to assembly area.
- Packaging Product Ready for Despatch – Securely pack finished goods according to specifications, ensuring protection and compliance.
- Obtain Quotes – Source and compare freight/shipping costs, selecting the best option for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Documents for Logistics – Prepare shipping documents, labels, and necessary customs paperwork (if applicable).
- Despatched Finished Products – Arrange carrier collection, confirm shipment, and update records to track delivery status.
Typical Duties
- Work closely with the Supply Chain team to ascertain and maintain all critical stock levels.
- As required, raise and issue requisitions for stocked parts.
- Follow quarantine procedure for all necessary goods inwards, working with Quality team in accordance with company and compliance requirements.
- Unload incoming deliveries with FLT where necessary.
- Maintain and update all stock records in the business system.
- Receive and record all goods inwards, create GRN's and secure items to stores.
- Record all Supplier Certificates of Conformity to the ERP system.
- Update and sign off Process pack with all orders.
- Liaise with the Assembly team regarding job kitting and scheduling.
- Kit jobs into job bins ready for manufacture, noting and actioning any shortages.
- Maintain batch numbers of stock and ensure their use in rotation.
- On job completion, receipt job for despatch complete with batch information.
- Maintain sign off procedure for all cartons despatched with AM.
- Carry out all duties in accordance with the company's QHSE policies and procedures.
Required
- Experience in a manufacturing/engineering/technical product environment ideally within Life Science.
- Experience in packing methodology.
- Proven ability to work within a team.
- Excellent attention to detail, organised and methodical – a clear thinker.
- Outgoing, proactive and engaged.
- Able to multi-task whilst remaining focused on achieving primary goals.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Good planner with ability to see the big picture as well as the detail.
- Driven to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
- Competent in the use of a computer / basic IT skills.
- Compliant with Corporate, Local, Health, Safety and Environmental regulations.
Desirable
- Knowledge and experience of working with a Quality Management system to ISO9001:2015.
- Knowledge of ISO14001 Environmental Management System standard.
