Job Summary
Main responsibilities will be to lead the design of control solutions associated to the gas, hydraulic and process systems including other manufacturing processes. Play a key role in delivering innovative solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and mentoring junior engineers.
Responsibilities
- Lead electrical aspects of design collaborating with mechanical engineers and shopfloor technicians to ensure project milestones are delivered on time
- Understanding and capturing customer requirements, relevant industry regulations and standards ensuring design compliance with safety and quality standards
- Oversee / lead project delivery from initial concept to detail stage technical design reports, including calculations, schematics, functional design specifications (FDS), and schedules
- Participate in and lead, when required, design team meetings, technical workshops and contribute to the preparation of key project documentation
- Provide input during estimating, tendering and value engineer as and when required
- Provide technical support internally and externally when required (e.g. FAT / SAT/ In service)
- Analysing existing processes and schedule meetings to discuss improvement initiatives
- Provide technical leadership and supervision to less experienced engineers
Basic Qualifications/Experience
- Minimum BEng in electrical engineering or relevant experience in this field
- Experience in leading engineering teams with relevant experience in a similar role.
- Incredibly good understanding of Electrical control systems Engineering & Standards is essential
- Must have a strong understanding of the electrical software engineering principles

- Effective communication and leadership abilities
- Good interpersonal skills as the role will involve interaction with multidiscipline teams.
- Have good foresight and strong analytical thinking skills that allows you to troubleshoot and avoid problems.
- Meticulous and logical thinker who enjoys working with different systems in combination with computers.
- Ability to draw and interpret Flow diagrams (Visio etc)
- Be computer literate and able to use a wide range of software packages
- Fault finding and familiarity with general commissioning activities are advantageous to this role.
Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements
Based in Sunderland although a moderate amount of travel may be required.
