Job Description: We are now on the lookout for a site-based Sales Support Engineer to join our dynamic and developing organisation, operating within a commercial and customer facing sales team. This new role would have a wide range of responsibilities, including being able to provide both engineering and technical support to our internal and external customers on our wide range of products and systems. Becoming a key part of the commercial sales team, by providing costings, quotations and managing sales orders.

In summary, we are looking for a motivated team player who can become an integral part of our organisation, where there are future opportunities for development and growth. Potential for the individual to develop into a future external sales or sales manager role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical and commercial support for our sales team and UK customer base.
  • Key point of contact for our inter-company sites and various distributors outside the UK.
  • Liaising with various departments and providing links between sales, engineering, procurement, production, vehicle testing and others.
  • Interpreting customer requirements to select and propose solutions.
  • Assist with and generate quotations based on RFQs.
  • Assist the external sales team with quotations and costings where required.
  • Answering technical queries (Phone, Email, Teams, face to face).
  • Responding to requests for delivery dates and lead times.
  • Supporting our sales administration team with technical and commercial guidance.
  • Providing additional sales admin coverage where required and managing orders.
  • Become a “go-to” for technical assistance and information.
  • Supporting product management with information and knowledge.
  • Build rapport with internal customers and with key customers externally.
  • Carry out vehicle and system handovers on-site to customers.
  • Flexibility to be available for travel (UK or overseas) if required on occasion to customer sites or exhibitions.

Skills and Background: (Required)

  • A strong technical or engineering background with a desire to learn and develop further.
  • One or two of Mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic or electrical engineering experience would be beneficial.
  • Ability to respond to technical queries and troubleshoot issues, often having to explain technical things to varying levels.

Skills and Background: (Desirable)

  • Experience operating as part of a sales team would be beneficial, but not essential.
  • Experience with processing software such as SAP or other would be beneficial.
  • Experience using a CRM system such as Salesforce would be useful but not essential.
  • Additional Language Skills.

Key Competencies:

  • Computer literate with Office software (Excel & PPT in particular). CAD experience would be useful but not essential.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willing to learn, grow and integrate into the sales team
  • Open to future development and progression opportunities
  • Comfortable liaising with customers and colleagues in the UK and overseas.
