Job Summary
Mechanical Design Engineer with experience of working with live customer focused projects, responsible for designing gas, hydraulic and process systems from first principles. You will produce instrumentation pipe-work schematics (P&ID’s), fabrication drawings, system designs and GA drawings in both 2D and 3D CAD packages and liaise with customers to outline design concepts.
Responsibilities
- To be an operational member of the design team to ensure systems are delivered on time and to specification.
- Concept system design including circuits, pumps, tooling and fabrication.
- Produce engineering calculations to ensure specifications are met including: – General understanding of thermodynamics, general understanding of mechanical design and calculations, good knowledge of material compatibility, flow through valves and pipework, volumetric pressure calculations and power consumption calculations.
- Produce detailed drawings, general arrangement drawings, P&ID drawings and bill of materials using AutoCAD Inventor.
- Compiling component specifications and verification in accordance with operating environment.
- Complete engineering and project documentation to ensure continued compliance with ISO standards and CE marking directives.
- Lead on design reviews to communicate system design to full project team.
- Creating technical files and data books including: – PED technical files, ATEX/IECEx technical files, and customer specific quality documentation.
Basic Qualifications/Experience
- An appropriate Engineering related degree is essential.
- Previous relevant experience is also essential.

Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements
The Mechanic Design Engineer position is a full-time permanent role based at the Sunderland Facility.
