Position Objective
The Engineering Manager and Site Leader for Hazel Grove will lead and oversee the design and development of advanced isolator hardware. From a technical standpoint, they will be responsible for developing the overall concept of a new product or for solving technical problems. This role will also lead cross-functional teams (including operations, quality, supply chain, finance and HR) delivering innovative solutions, ensuring technical excellence, and meeting project objectives on time and within budget. To accomplish this, they must determine technical goals and produce detailed plans. Collaborate with other managers, including those in finance, production, and marketing, as well as with contractors and equipment and materials suppliers. They must know how to prepare budgets, hire staff, and supervise employees. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, project management, and leadership in the development of complex hardware systems.
Responsibilities
Project Management:
- Develop and manage project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Ensure project milestones and deliverables are achieved within the defined scope.
- Identify and mitigate project risks and issues.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to align on project goals and priorities.
Technical Leadership
- Lead the design, development, and validation of isolator hardware systems.
- Provide technical guidance to the engineering team, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.
- Oversee system architecture, material selection, and performance optimization.
- Drive innovation and problem-solving during all project phases.
Team Leadership
- Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
- Facilitate effective communication across the site and various departments, including R&D, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, finance and HR.
- Advise BPS leadership and other impacted departments on product or design changes which may affect profit, schedule, cost, or client relationships
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary liaison between internal teams, clients, and external partners.
- Prepare and deliver progress reports, presentations, and technical documentation.
- Ensure customer requirements and feedback are incorporated into the design process.
Compliance And Quality Assurance
- Ensure all designs meet applicable regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
- Oversee testing, validation, and certification of isolator hardware.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline
Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant engineering/hardware experience and at least one (1) year of leadership responsibility
Skills/Competencies
- Demonstrated aptitude for time management skills; ability to handle multiple tasks; set priorities and meet deadlines within established budget
- Understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts related to materials engineering
- Solutions-oriented thinking for difficult, technical situations
- Self-directed and proficient with time and project management
Preferred Skills/Competencies
- Experience in medical or pharmaceutical hardware development
- Proficient in CAD software and simulation tools
- Certification in Project Management (PMP, PRINCE2) or Six Sigm
