Job Summary
Responsible for the procurement of goods and/or raw materials.
Supports cost down initiatives, payment terms and supplier contracts.
Ensure operations have robust and cost-effective supply chains are in place.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for all purchasing functions related to the procurement of goods and/or raw materials as assigned, including source selection, negotiations, order placement and follow up.
- Negotiate prices and lead times with vendors that are not part of a corporate contracts.
- Resolves all supplier issues related to quotation conflicts.
- Reviews and evaluates drawings to estimate quantity and type of materials, parts, or other required items. Analyses specifications and determines the best source of procurement.
- Analyses and identify sourcing trends to determine corrective action plans, which may result in looking for a new supplier, increasing/decreasing an order or re-work to salvage a part.
Monitors purchase price variances and resolve any issues with the supplier.
- Co-Ordinates purchasing activities between Gardner Denver management and customers to develop standard and non-standard issues.
Research alternative vendors during shortage periods.
- Reviews material quantities and dates required determining accurate start and completion dates and communicates any issues to management.
- Supports and participates in business improvements including Lean and 5S activities as required.
- Plan and place material purchase orders to ensure that material flow to the plant is in line with the customer demand/company plan (MPS/MRP), with the use of schedules, consignment stock, kanban, and other order systems as required.
- Expedite orders and maintain supplier delivery performance in order to maintain the production plan.
- Actively manage Supplier Delivery performance through the use of KPI's and routine performance reviews with critical suppliers.
- Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required within the scope of the role.
- Responsible for all purchasing functions related to the procurement of goods / raw materials.
- Analyse and identify sourcing trends to determine corrective action plans.
- Work with Production to ensure no line stoppages.
- Responsible for all new major contract parts for High Pressure
- Attend Shortage Meetings
- Work with Suppliers to improve Delivery Performance
- Escalation with Suppliers, follow up meeting and visits if required.
- Training of new Purchasing Team
- Support where required.
- Basic Qualifications
- CIPS Certification or equivalent.
- Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements
Fully site based.
- Experience of casting and machining (including managing subcontract machine shops)
- Proven materials management and purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven record of cost down achievements.
- Experience of improving NWC, through extending payment terms, reducing inventory, agreeing stocking policies.
- Experience of scheduling, MRP, MPS and consignment stocking
- Demonstrative proactive approach and initiative in problem solving.
- Ability to communicate and interface diplomatically and effectively with all levels of the organisation, external suppliers etc.
- Able to work on own initiative and as member of small team.
- Detail orientated.
