The Innovation‑to‑Value (I2V) Leader plays a critical role in driving the end‑to‑end transformation of value add / cost reduction ideas into commercially successful products and solutions within Ingersoll Rand Transport Solutions. This role bridges engineering, commercial, sourcing and operations teams to ensure strategic alignment, accelerated time‑to‑market, and maximum value creation for ideas across the product portfolio within Ingersoll Rand Transport Solutions.

The I2V Leader is responsible for leading cross‑functional teams, executing I2V cost‑down initiatives, driving portfolio rationalisation, and ensuring customer‑centric cost down ideas that align with IRTS’s growth strategy and margin expansion. The I2V leader will also support cost down initiatives around supplier technologies, manufacturing methods and material innovation.

Responsibilities
  • Drive the I2V strategy for Transport Solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives and market trends.
  • Own the i2v and value creation portfolio across the transport product portfolio, ensuring robust prioritisation, process compliance, and delivery of high‑value projects.
  • Facilitate ideation processes, scouting new ideas and technologies, and identifying adjacent growth opportunities.
  • Lead portfolio reviews with leadership teams to evaluate performance, risks, and resource allocation.
  • Track and report key metrics including delivered annualised savings, margin uplift, quality, and delivery performance.
Cross‑Functional Leadership & Collaboration
  • Act as the central point of coordination between engineering, commercial, sourcing and operations.
  • Facilitate communication and ensure seamless handovers between all stakeholders.
  • Champion strong i2v governance practices, risk management, and issue resolution.
  • Build a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement across teams.
Voice of Customer (VoC) & Market Insight
  • Ensure cost down initiatives are grounded in Voice of Customer insights, protecting customer value, performance and differentiation.
Governance, Reporting & Compliance
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure alignment with IR’s i2v standards and processes.
  • Provide executive‑level reporting on i2v status, risks, milestones, and financial impact.
  • Ensure compliance with quality systems, safety standards, and relevant regulations.
  • Accountable for recommendation and prioritisation decisions for i2V initiatives, with escalation to leadership as required.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience in product development, engineering leadership, or innovation management.
  • Proven track record delivering cross‑functional programs in industrial, automotive, or transport sectors.
  • Strong understanding of stage‑gate NPD processes and portfolio governance.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Preferred
  • Master’s degree (MBA or Engineering discipline).
  • Experience with pneumatics, suspensions, braking systems, or transport‑related technologies.
  • Background in Lean, Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), or project management methodologies (PMP/Prince2).
  • Demonstrated ability to transform ideas into commercially viable products.
Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements
  • Flexible working, travel required to other sites in the UK and Europe.
  • Strategic thinking and business acumen.
  • Innovation mindset and customer‑centric approach.
  • Accustomed to working within an international business – Languages would be advantageous.
  • High level of commercial awareness.
  • Good negotiating and influencing capabilities at senior level.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing work requirements and multiple projects.
