Job Summary

Working from the Redditch manufacturing plant, your role will require you to create custom engineered compressor packages utilising a range of standard compressor blocks. This typically requires the specification of control panels and ancillary equipment such as filters, condensate collection systems and pressure vessels. Practical knowledge of pressurised pipework, pipe fittings, threads, sheet metal and welded fabrications is very beneficial.

You will be responsible for delivery of the project BoM and project drawings with the support and guidance from colleagues. Additionally you will increase your experience PED and documentation knowledge and be expected to co-ordinate with production engineering as projects work their way through the production and testing process.

The successful candidate will have an eye for detail, be a self-starter with a collaborative attitude and be able to manage their time effectively.

Responsibilities

  • To interpret technical order specification documents
  • Proficiently create BoM in SAP
  • Proficiently create 2D drawings & 3D CAD models in Inventor
  • Co-ordinate and co-operate with production, quality and sales dept.
  • Attend internal and customer facing meetings when required
  • Produce reports in MS Office packages Word, Excel, Powerpoint

Scope

  • Produce 2D manufacturing drawings and 3D model assemblies
  • Create assembly BoM and engineering change notes in SAP
  • Support and liaise with production to increase production efficiency and processes
  • Liaise with customers and suppliers on specific projects including technical meetings, as required.
  • Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required within the scope of the role.

Planning

  • Produce a full range of layout detail drawings and planning documents to contract specifications
  • Prepare bills of material as well as revised submittals to the customer for approval.
  • Monitor and report progress of projects through design and build process and resolve any issues impacting progress.

Cost Management

  • Monitor project costs and/or adjustments, paying attention to the original margins set and advising management when deviations occur.
  • Must demonstrate experience cost analysis and in depth knowledge of manufacturing processes especially rotating heavy equipment, casting, machining and fabrication.

Timelines

  • Develop project time estimates and product cost comparisons and selects materials, commercial parts and technical data.

Production

  • Create test procedures for projects and oversees factory acceptance tests.
  • May oversee production processes, suggesting changes in working methods or sequences in order to improve efficiencies of project timelines.

Documentation

  • Maintains Engineering documents and design change information.
  • Creates functional descriptions/procedures for specific projects.

Shipping Information

  • Investigates and keeps management informed of problems in shipping projects in compliance with customer’s target receipt date.
  • Liaises with Shipping Department as required.

Basic Qualifications

  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent within an Engineering discipline.

Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements

Fully site based.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably one handling machining, fabrication, assembly and compressed air systems.
  • Proven experience in process engineering and cost analysis.
  • Proven experience of project management systems and processes.
  • Experience with control panel wiring, Industrial standards and commissioning.
  • Experienced and proven skill in producing detailed design drawings, or preferably models, using 3D Inventor and AutoCAD software.
  • Proficient in appropriate computer software necessary to successfully navigate the job such as CAD, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • SAP or similar ERP system experience would be an advantage.
