Job Description
We are now on the lookout for an office and production facility based, Trainee Sales Engineer to join our dynamic and developing organisation, operating within a commercial and customer facing sales team.
This new role would have a wide range of responsibilities, including being able to provide both commercial and technical support to our internal and external customers on our wide range of products and systems. Becoming a key part of the commercial sales team, by providing costings, quotations, managing sales orders and being a liaison between Sales and Production.
In summary, we are looking for somebody with the basis of an engineering background, or commercial vehicle knowledge, who can be a motivated team player and become an integral part of our organisation.
There are opportunities for development and growth within the business and some of our Current Sales Managers have followed a similar career path by joining the business in a similar role previously.
There will also be the opportunity to visit customer sites, attend trade shows and hospitality events including dinners. Longer term, there could also be opportunities to travel overseas in addition.
Career development is important within our business and access would be available to internal and external training courses in a number of areas and disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial and daily support for our sales team and UK customer base.
- Liaising with various departments and links between sales, engineering, procurement, production, vehicle testing and more.
- Assist with and generate quotations based on RFQ’s and queries.
- Supporting our sales administration team with technical and commercial guidance and occasional sales admin cover.
- Build rapport with internal customers and with key customers externally.
- Able to meet customers on site and attend whilst they inspect vehicles.
- Flexibility for occasional travel to customer sites or exhibitions.
- Check vehicle specifications on arrival, including gearbox and PTO (Power Take Off) vs. sales order requirements and vehicle application.
Skills and Background: (Required):
- Mechanical Engineering background such as apprenticeship or similar
- One or two of Mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic or electrical engineering experience would be beneficial.
- Strong communication abilities and a desire to succeed in a commercial role.
Skills and Background: (Desirable):
- Experience operating as part of a sales team would be beneficial, but not essential.
- Experience with processing software such as SAP or other would be beneficial.
- Experience using a CRM system such as Sales Force would be useful but not essential.
Key Competencies
- Computer literate with Office software (Excel & PPT in particular).
- Willing to learn, grow and integrate into the sales team
- Open to future development and progression opportunities
- Comfortable liaising with customers and colleagues in the UK and overseas.
