Our current projects span High Speed Rail, Bridges, Nuclear Power, Immersed Tube Tunnels, Ports, and more.
You will lead drainage design in a Design & Build environment, shaping solutions that are practical, buildable and commercially aware, working on projects from various sectors including highways, rail, ports and maritime. Some of the day-to-day tasks will include:
- Deliver surface water drainage design for highways, rail, ports and marine infrastructure projects in the UK and overseas
- Development of drainage strategies at tender and detailed design stages
- Detailed hydraulic design of drainage networks including pipes, manholes, headwalls, outfalls, attenuation systems, ponds and SuDS features
- Preparation of Flood Risk Assessments, Drainage Strategies and technical approval submissions
- Liaison with LLFAs, Environment Agency, water companies, port authorities and other statutory bodies
- Mentoring and supporting junior engineers
Qualifications:
- Chartered Civil Engineer (ICE or similar) with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- Extensive experience (10+ years) as Highways (or Railways) Drainage Engineer working on large, complex infrastructure projects in a consultancy environment across a range of sectors, including highways, railways, ports and maritime
- Proficient working knowledge of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS), flood risk guidance and surface water drainage design
- Proven experience working on contractor-led Design & Build projects
- Proficient working knowledge of relevant national drainage related standards (e.g. DMRB, MCHW, BS, Manual for Streets)
- Ability to build, maintain and develop relationships with clients
