We're recruiting on behalf of a leading specialist recycling business for an experienced Site Manager to take ownership of a busy Preston processing site.
You’ll be the senior decision-maker on site, responsible for the safe, compliant and efficient treatment of end‑of‑life displays (flat panel, CRT and plasma) and household gas and electricity meters — including smart meters. That means protecting the site's environmental permit and AATF status, driving recovery rates and output quality, and making sure every item is processed, recorded and reported accurately.
What the role involves:
- Leading health, safety and wellbeing across a labour‑intensive site of 50+ — risk assessments, COSHH, permits to work and accident investigations
- End‑to‑end control of meter operations: booking‑in, serial‑number capture, depollution, dismantling, chain‑of‑custody traceability and destruction certification against customer SLAs
- Overseeing display dismantling, hazardous fraction segregation and consignment to permitted outlets
- Planning labour, equipment and logistics to hit throughput, turnaround and quality targets
- Budget ownership, KPI reporting and stakeholder management with customers, regulators and the Environment Agency
- Developing and engaging your supervisory team, and driving continuous improvement
What we're looking for:
Proven site or operations management experience in waste/recycling, manufacturing or logistics. NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent), a strong grasp of environmental permits and hazardous waste requirements, experience leading 50+ people, budget and KPI management, and a hands‑on, floor‑present style.
AATF, meter recycling, IT asset disposal, WAMITAB/CIWM TCM, WEEE Regulations 2013, ISO 9001/14001 and Lean/Six Sigma experience are all desirable.
This is a genuine opportunity to shape safety, compliance and performance on a site where what you do keeps hazardous materials out of landfill.
