This position is responsible for supporting the pre & post sales and integration needs of our clients. They work closely with Account Executives and Account Managers to provide technical product integration support to the sales team. The Solutions Engineer is the technical liaison between customers and internal departments including product management, marketing, sales, service, QA, and software development.

They gather and assess functional, technical, and business requirements to understand how to best implement Ingenico products and services. The candidate can perform technical and sales related activities at customer locations independent of sales executives, which may include, but is not limited to, customer presentations and product demonstrations. This position requires up to 30% travel in the UK and Germany. It is fully remote so the ideal person can be based anywhere in the UK or Germany.

The Solution Engineer is responsible for field support of customer integrations. Product integration will involve working with customers directly as well as through partner relationships. Product integration includes gathering technical requirements from customers, providing guidance and training on Ingenico’s suite of terminal solutions, and actively working in a development support role.

The ideal candidate will be very familiar with POS register systems and integration kits. Equivalent experience in developing technical solutions is also preferred. The Solutions Engineer will have the base experience and qualifications defined in the Solution Engineering role below. In addition, the Solutions Engineer will have a track record of successfully managing, consulting, and servicing our largest and most complex customers. Solutions in this space require custom development, a very high level of responsiveness and the ability to work within a very complex customer environment.

Essential Functions/ Responsibilities:

  • Management of the Android Global API solution
  • Primary Interface for ISV Android Product Integration
  • Implementation and Support of Ingenico Hardware & Software Payment Solutions
  • Work with 3rd party financial solution providers to resolve technical integration issues
  • Provide product training to customers and partners
  • Analyze customer requirements and recommend best practices & solutions
  • Provide sales support to account executives in the form of presentations, white board sessions and technical demonstrations of product
  • Support existing client base in problem determination, resolution, and product upgrade
  • Participate in sales meetings and industry related events
  • Recommend product enhancements and provide customer feedback to product management
  • Aid in testing and piloting of new hardware and software
  • Work with QA & software engineering on problem recreation and resolution
  • Technical expertise on Ingenico’s multi-lane set of products and integration kits
  • Collaborate with sales, product, software development and QA in order to accelerate product integration.
  • Provide input to Technical Services and Software Development to accelerate the evolution of the Ingenico multilane integration kits.

Competencies / Skills Requirements:

  • Development level experience in Android, Java, and C Sharp
  • In Depth knowledge of API Integration
  • Proficient in secure payment solutions
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and problem resolution
  • Technical position involving driver solutions, PC installations and understanding of POS workflows at a very detailed level.
  • Project management, time management and task prioritization skills
  • Analytical capabilities and leadership skills including experience managing customer expectations.
  • Written and verbal communication skills in customer settings and with internal management.
  • Ability to establish solid business relationships and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate business needs to technical people and to communicate and simplify complex technical information for non-technical people.

Technical and Non-technical Skills:

  • Understanding of various encryption standards and concepts in the secure payment industry including Master/Session, DUKPT, DES and Triple DES
  • Experience with EMV certification and integration
  • Understanding of security requirements within the payment industry such as PABP, PCI-PED and PCI-DSS
  • Hardware experience with POS peripherals, PCs, Servers and common POS retail workstations and back-office solutions
  • Understanding of wireless protocols and concepts
  • Understanding of various payment device interfaces and implementations such as OPOS, JPOS and IBM EFT
  • Experience with graphics generation and manipulation tools
  • Experience with Java development environment is preferred
  • Software: MS-Word, Excel, Project, Visio, PowerPoint
  • Strong communication, marketing, cross functional team leadership, product management, product marketing
