This role combines hands‑on platform engineering with Product Owner ownership: contributing to technical delivery, strengthening service resilience, and helping turn stakeholder priorities into a clear, actionable team backlog.
The team
The London e FX platform team supports, maintains and develops trading technology within the Financial Markets Technology domain.
We work in an agile delivery model and focus on reliable service, secure change, observability, automation, and continuous improvement.
You will work closely with engineers, front‑office stakeholders, IT management, tribe product managers and chapter leads to keep the platform stable today while shaping the roadmap for tomorrow.
Roles and responsibilities
As an engineering‑focused Product Owner, you will stay close to the technology while helping the team deliver the right outcomes. You will:
- Contribute to platform engineering, support and change delivery, keeping stability, reliability, security and operational quality at the centre of delivery.
- Own and prioritise the team backlog, translating stakeholder needs, technical debt, risk items and service improvements into clear, actionable work.
- Maintain the platform technical roadmap and align delivery priorities with stakeholders across trading, sales, IT management and product management.
- Use strong analytical skills to break down incidents, service issues and technical problems, supporting root‑cause analysis and measurable improvement actions.
- Improve observability by strengthening meaningful monitoring, alerting, service‑level measures and reporting using tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
- Drive automation through Azure Dev Ops, pipelines, YAML and Ansible, reducing manual activity and improving repeatability, control and delivery confidence.
- Support robust change, release and risk management practices, ensuring changes are planned, tested, deployed and evidenced appropriately.
- Create transparency on capacity, delivery options and trade‑offs, including input into Quarterly Business Review planning and stakeholder communication.

- You have strong technical knowledge across Linux and Windows environments, connectivity, automation, administration and operational tooling.
- You can analyse complex technical or service issues, structure options clearly and turn findings into practical backlog items and improvement actions.
- You understand agile delivery and can balance stakeholder priorities, team capacity, technical debt, risk and operational resilience.
- You have experience with automation and delivery tooling such as Azure Dev Ops, YAML, Ansible or comparable pipeline technologies.
- You understand service management, IT risk, security expectations and the evidence needed to demonstrate control in a financial‑services environment.
- You communicate clearly with engineers and senior stakeholders, work well in a team, and are comfortable taking ownership while helping others succeed.
- Useful experience
- Observability strategies and tooling, including meaningful monitoring, alerting and service‑level reporting.
- Resilient architecture concepts, including active‑active designs, disaster recovery scenarios and recovery testing.
- ITIL practices, incident management, problem management, change management and post‑incident improvement.
- Electronic markets, foreign exchange, trading platforms or other Financial Markets technology environments.
- Product Owner, technical lead, service owner or platform ownership experience.
- AI‑assisted engineering or productivity tooling, such as Microsoft 365 Copilot or Git Hub Copilot.
